I spent the weekend in Bintan Lagoon Resort. We were there to celebrate a friend's birthday and honestly, it was the best weekend Ive had in long long time.
We stayed in one of the beachfront villas and were 100 metres from the beach, with its flour-like sand and crystal clear azure waters. Idyllic and serene was how you could describe the place, and to spend time there with your good friends, nothing can be better than this.
We played football on the beach, lounged like whales (constantly reminding each other to turn around), swam, ate loads (courtesy of Christina who is a brilliant cook), drank, barbequed, chatted till the wee hours, massaged.
In a word, perfect.
We woke up on Sunday morning to a breakfast of Chris' sausages, scrambled eggs, roasted tomatoes, potato salad, grilled butter toast, juice and coffee all set out on the patio table in a manner that would impress a Michelin chef. With Spanish music playing softly in the background in perfect accompaniment to the gurgling of the swimming pool. A gentle sea breeze teasing the hair of the girls. Smiles all around in the company of close friends
You just didnt want to leave.
But all good things must come to an end. And Ive ended up like a cooked lobster - all red, even though I did use sun-block, but also with wonderful memories of the weekend.
