I was pleasantly surprised... nay... shocked at how much I enjoyed this movie. The pace was good, commendable storyline (although some jokes were recycled from Army Daze). As expected of a local movie, the Hokkien vulgarities, jokes added a local shine which I appreciated. I guess the movie also appealed to me because of the reminiscing of my old army days.
Can't say I appreciated the directorial skills (slow motion-quick angle changes should be left to Bollywood movies), way-too-obvious product placements (Bee Cheng Hiang, KPMG, etc) nor the special effects of the opening, but it was still an enjoyable movie nonetheless.
I'm actually looking forward to the sequel!
