The Loss of A Great Man

Is it only me or do non-Catholics also feel a sense of loss and sadness over the passing of the Pope, John Paul II?

Is it because of his courage even in th eface of his ill health? To have struggled to speak at Easter even though he had a tube in his throat, just because he had not failed to speak from his window in his 26 years as the Holy Father?

Is it because he was attributed to have played a major role in the fall of Communism? To have 'freed' millions from the confines of Marxist thinking?

Is it because he was the Pope who tried his best to reconcile the differences between the religions? To be the first Pope in a millennia to have asked the Jews for forgiveness in Jerusalem?

Is it because he was a living example of a good Christian. And did what would have been impossible for any normal man to have done - to ask for forgiveness and to forgive his assassin?

Sure, he had bad times. Like going against contraceptives and homosexuality with a vengence. Like turning a blind eye even when knowing that he had Priests in the US buggering little boys. But then, he was only human. We should look at the good at what he has done.

We have loss a great man. May he rest in peace. Posted by Hello
