Whatever Floats My Boat...

Sometimes...

Knowing that I've done enough to affect other people's lives positively makes me feel slightly better about myself.

And for now, its sufficient for me to get by on.

You know, a long time ago (by which I mean sometime in Bristle), I hit upon living by the utilitarian principle that if you live and die and make more people happy than you've made sad, then you've done fine. As an infidel out to tear down organized religion, I find I have to be a bit careful with my definition of "happy"... >;-)

a student recently told me that if not for what i said to him, he probably won't be studying this holiday and that because i spoke to him, he studied more in this holiday than he did in his 2 years of JC (he's a retainee). it's these little things that sustain me as a teacher.
