What if you have been brought up so high once before that you nothing is good enough for you anymore?
Life, romance and alcohol are all drugs.
Once you have tasted ambrosia, you crave for it, and actively seek it out. But you'll probably not find it anymore. Or even if you do, its just not the same as the first one you tasted.
You get disappointed, and disheartened. But still, the thirst drives you to seek it out.
But by and by, you forget how it first tasted. So, nothing tastes right, nothing is good enough.
And you are left alone. Thirsty.
Vicious cycle. Am I making sense?

Makes a lot of sense to me. Everything's different. No drug experience would be the same. Different visuals, experiences and emotions.
Now if everything were the same then, why would we need to keep trying for something supposedly better?
